Reservation row: Jats threaten to disrupt CM’s events in Haryana from Aug 16

The All India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) on Saturday warned the Haryana government of disrupting the events and rallies of chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar and other BJP ministers from August 16 if their demands are not fulfilled by then.

At the Jat Mahasammelan Rally in Jassia village in Rohtak, AIJASS chief Yashpal Malik said they may even advance their protest if any national BJP leader comes to hold any rally in Haryana.

“The government must put up its best show in the Supreme Court and get the stay vacated on reservation for Jats. The Centre must also pass a bill to facilitate quota for us under the OBC category in the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament,” Malik said.

The rally on Saturday was organised after the government submitted in Punjab and Haryana high court it will not withdraw cases related to the 2016 violent Jat reservation stir till July 11.

“The government must know that if it backtracked from its promises, we have the options of holding dharnas again. The BJP itself turned the peaceful protests of 2016 violent and then put the blame on the Jat community,” he said.

Passing eight resolutions as part of their course of action to press for their demands, Malik said Jats will start holding ‘Bhaichara Sammelans’ at village and block levels to gather support of Dalits and farmers to oppose the government.

He said the Jat community will actively oppose the BJP in the upcoming assembly elections in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
