President Kovind gets red carpet welcome in Shimla

On May 21, Kovind, who is on a five-day tour in Himachal, will attend the annual convocation of Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, where he will award degrees to 470 students.
President Ramnath Kovind on Sunday arrived at Shimla on a six-day sojourn. He was given a red carpet welcome at Kalyani helipad in the vicinity of Mashobra Retreat, part of the presidential estate in Himachal Pradesh.

Governor Acharya Devvrat and chief minister Jai Ram Thakur accorded warm welcome to the President at Kalyani helipad. He is accompanied by his family members and will stay at President’s Retreat in Charabra.
Irrigation and public health minister Mahender Singh Thakur, who has been designated as the minister-in-waiting for the visit of the President was also present on the occasion.
He will attend the annual convocation of Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, where he will award degrees to 470 students.
Chief minister Jai Ram Thakur and his cabinet colleagues will also join the President over tea on the same day. Next day, an ‘At Home’ ceremony will be held at the President’s Retreat and the state government will organise a function to honour him at Peterhoff hotel.
