PM Modi holds meet with 3 service chiefs on Pak situation, his second today
PM Modi held two high-level security meetings including one with the three service chiefs on Wednesday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi held second high-level security meet during the day on Wednesday evening when he met the three service chiefs and reviewed the situation emerging out of aerial engagement with Pakistan.
PM Modi was briefed about the latest security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and along the Line of Control (LoC). He had held a meeting of top security officials earlier in the day at the Prime Minister’s Office and reviewed the security situation following violation of Indian airspace by Pakistani fighter jets in Jammu and Kashmir.
Indian Air Force responded to the intrusion by Pakistani fighter planes and an F-16 jet was shot down, said external affairs ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar. India lost one MiG-27 Bison in the “aerial engagement” with Pakistan Air Force, Kumar said adding, “One pilot was missing in action.”
The meetings took place in the background flare up between India and Pakistan especially after Pakistan Air Force violated Indian airspace and attempted to target military establishments on Indian side of the Line of Control.

After PM Modi held the meetings with the security officials and chiefs of Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Indian Navy, security was beefed up at various places especially around sensitive locations. India issued a strong demarche over “vulgar display of injured IAF personnel” in a video showing him in the custody of Pakistani authorities.
India asked Pakistan “to ensure that no harm comes to the Indian defence personnel in its custody.” The government also handed over a dossier to Pakistan on Jaish-e-Mohammed’s role in Pulwama terror attack that killed at least 40 CRPF jawans on February 14.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) summoned Deputy High Commissioner Syed Haider Shah to lodge a strong protest over violation of Indian airspace by the PAF. India said it was an “unprovoked act of aggression” by Pakistan and undertaken in sharp contrast to IAF’s non-military anti-terror pre-emptive strike at a Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist camp in Balakot on Tuesday morning.

Pakistan had earlier said its air force shot down two Indian fighter jets and claimed to have captured two Indian Air Force pilots in custody. By the evening, Pakistan made a U-turn and said that only one pilot was in its custody whose video had surfaced on social media.
