PM Modi greets Israel in Hebrew on Twitter
The Prime Minister took to Hebrew to greet his Israeli counterpart Netanyahu on his three-day “historic visit” to Israel.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is known for greeting the world leaders he meets in a special way.
This time, the Prime Minister took to Hebrew to greet his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu apart from hugging him thrice on the first day of his three-day “historic visit” to Israel.
Modi was received at the Ben Gurion airport by Netanyahu, who said in Hindi, “Aapka swagat hai, mere dost (Welcome, my friend)”.
Appreciating the special welcome accorded to him, Modi spoke a few words in Hebrew, starting with “Shalom (hello), I am happy to be here.”
Before that Modi tweeted in Hebrew before leaving for Israel. “Hello Israel! Today I begin a special & historic visit with the aim of further strengthening the relations between India and Israel,” the translated version of the tweet said.
Modi again tweeted in Hebrew when he visited the Danziger ‘Dan’ Flower Farm, Israel’s leading floriculture companies in Moshav Mishmar Hashiva, about 56 km from Jerusalem.
“Visited the Danziger Flower Farm, where I saw pioneering work done in floriculture,” the translated tweet said.
In a special gesture to mark the first visit by an Indian premier to the Jewish nation since the two countries established diplomatic ties a quarter century ago, Israel named a “new fast-growing” Israeli chrysanthemum flower ‘MODI’.
