Pahalgam attack news live updates: Pakistan has announced it will brief the UN Security Council on recent regional developments in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, according to a statement from the foreign office on Sunday, quoted by PTI.

Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has instructed Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar, to "take immediate steps to convene a meeting of the Security Council,” the statement added.

"Pakistan will inform the UNSC about India’s aggressive actions, provocations, and provocative statements,” the foreign office stated.

It further said, “Pakistan will specifically highlight India’s illegal actions to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty,” adding that Islamabad aims to show how these moves by New Delhi are threatening “peace and security” in the region.

Congress leader Rashid Alvi on Sunday called India’s decision to stop all direct and indirect trade with Pakistan a “cosmetic step”. He said that since trade between the two countries had already slowed down, stopping it completely would hurt India more, as it would no longer benefit from the trade gap.

"These are just symbolic actions, but we are not against them. In fact, stopping imports and exports harms us more. The trade gap was about 300 billion dollars, which used to work in our favour, so this move actually affects India more," Alvi said.

"But if the government believes this is the right thing to do and has made the decision, we support it."

AIMIM chief and MP Asaduddin Owaisi backed the Centre in its response to Pakistan over the Pahalgam terror attack but urged the government to explain its retaliatory plans.

“Whatever action the government takes, we are with them, but what they will do and when, they need to say that,” Owaisi said in Bihar's Darbhanga.

A total of 39 arrests have been made in Assam for "defending Pakistan" in the aftermath of the deadly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, said Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Two more persons were arrested from Hojai and South Salmara-Mankachar districts on Saturday.

Sources familiar with the matter said, without giving further details, that the air chief met with PM Modi

India has stopped the flow of water through the Baglihar Dam on the Chenab River and is planning to do something similar at the Kishanganga Dam on the Jhelum River, a source told PTI.

According to someone familiar with the matter, these hydroelectric dams — Baglihar in Ramban, Jammu, and Kishanganga in north Kashmir — give India the power to control when water is released.

The Indian Army received new supplies of the Russian-origin Igla-S missiles as part of a contract inked under the emergency procurement powers given by the Centre to the forces.

The supplies were received a week ago and are being deployed along forward areas to tackle the threat from enemy fighter aircraft, choppers and drones on the borders, sources told ANI.

The Army has also issued tender for buying 48 more launchers and around 90 missiles of the VSHORADS (IR) under fast track procedures.

An ordnance factory in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur has cancelled leaves of all employees and officers who had applied for more than two days.

CRPF trooper Munir Ahmed said he informed senior officers of his marriage to a Pakistani woman when he was transferred to the 41st Battalion in Bhopal immediately on resuming duty after leave.

“I was given the order copy and relieved immediately, leaving me with no option but to join my duties at Bhopal, where I joined on March 29. I faced the interview of the commanding officer and his deputy on reaching there and also completed the documentation process, clearly mentioning my marriage to a Pakistani woman,” he said, adding he had even made the entry in his battalion data record book.
