• Dikshit was first elected to the Lok Sabha in 2004 and retained his seat for another term in 2009. He served as the Chief Whip of the Congress Party from 2012 to 2014 and has also been the party’s National Spokesperson in the past.

• In June 2019, he sparked controversy after comparing the late Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat, to a “goon on the street." He later apologised for the remark. Dikshit has also been a vocal critic of Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party.

• He is an adjunct faculty member at OP Jindal Global University, Sonepat, where he teaches human development and public policy.

• Parvesh Verma is the son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma.

• He was part of the Delhi BJP Election Committee during the 2013 Assembly elections and contested from Mehrauli, where he defeated AAP's Narinder Singh Sejwal and unseated incumbent Congress MLA Yoganand Shastri.

• In 2014, he won the West Delhi Lok Sabha seat by a record margin of 2.6 lakh votes. He retained the seat in 2019 with an even bigger margin of 5.78 lakh votes.

• Despite securing consecutive victories with record margins, he was not among the BJP's candidates for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Aam Aadmi Party has made a website, where we have uploaded all the form 17C of every assembly,” read a post by the former chief minister.

• Rule 49S(1) of the Conduct of Election Rules, 1961, mandates that the presiding officer must prepare an account of votes recorded in Form 17C at the close of polling and place it in a sealed cover labeled 'Account of votes recorded.'

• "The presiding officer shall at the close of the poll prepare an account of votes recorded in Form 17C and enclose it in a separate cover with the words 'Account of votes recorded' superscribed thereon."

• The second part of Rule 49S specifies that a copy of Form 17C must be provided to every polling agent present. "The presiding officer shall furnish every polling agent present at the close of the poll a true copy of the entries made in Form 17C after obtaining a receipt from the said polling agent therefor and shall attest it as a true copy," states part (2) of Rule 49S of the Conduct of Election Rules.
