Mamata Banerjee makes changes in TMC after setback in bypoll

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has made changes to the Trinamool Congress (TMC) organization and held three Muslim leaders responsible for the party's loss in the Sagardighi assembly by-poll. She has replaced the president of the TMC's minority cell and appointed a committee headed by Minister Siddiqullah Chowdhury to investigate the cause of the defeat. The BJP, Congress and Left formed an "unholy alliance" to defeat the TMC, and Banerjee has also made changes to administrative positions in the Sagardighi constituency. In addition, Nawsad Siddique, West Bengal's only Muslim opposition MLA, was arrested and charged with non-bailable offenses, prompting Banerjee to replace the chairman of Furfura Sharif Development Authority.
