Hindustan Pencils shipped five sharpeners meant for the left-handed after a mother wrote to the company highlighting how her 4-year-old daughter was struggling to sharpen her pencils.
It is difficult for left-handed people to have a smooth sail in a world that is dominated by right-handers and it did not take much time for 4-year-old Isha, a kindergartner to get a taste of it.

When Thane resident Shweta Singh found out that her daughter-a lefty- was unable to sharpen pencils with the ease of the right-handed people, she chose not to brush her struggles aside.
“I found stationeries for left-hand writing-skilled kids online, however they were very expensive. A sharpener was costing around Rs 700 to Rs 1200”, Singh wrote in a Facebook post that has now gone viral.
She finally chose to write to Hindustan Pencils Pvt. Ltd, the stationery brand that manufactures Apsara and Nataraj brand of pencils to take into consideration the challenges faced by the left-handed.
“They were very helpful. I got a call from a person at a respectable position from the company. He tried to understand my concern and promised to help”, she wrote.
To her surprise, the company also shipped five sharpeners meant for the left-handed for the girl. Although they did not have these sharpeners available as a normal product, Hindustan Pencils shared that they were working on its regular production.
Their endearing gesture was not lost on social media as people took to Twitter to appreciate the stationery manufacturer for taking customer feedback to heart.
