Key differences persist as IPCC meet stretches on

Representatives from 195 countries have been negotiating the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's Synthesis Report, set to be released on Monday. Key issues discussed include overshoot of the 1.5°C warming goal, carbon capture and storage, equity and burden-sharing, and climate finance. The report will provide an overview of the state of climate change knowledge since the 2014 Fifth Assessment Report and will address policy-relevant questions. It will also include findings on historical responsibility of countries from the global south and north. The report will feed into the Global Stocktake, a process for evaluating the implementation of the Paris Agreement goal to keep global temperature rise this century to well below 2°C.
