There is a wave. Lot of people play and follow chess. Internet has made chess more accessible to everyone. Right now, chess has got in India good rise and the important thing is we have a golden generation. Gukesh’s peak rating has been 16 and he is still in the top 25. Arjun is 1-2 points behind. Nihal Sareen finished in the final of an online global event. Praggnanandhaa has beaten Magnus 5 times this year.

“I want to enjoy chess and play as much as I can. My goals are pretty much the same from the start. I want to become the best and hopefully some day I can become the world champion,” he says

“When I play agains a cheater, any strong or experienced player can just find out by the moves,” says Gukesh. “You know the opponent's strength. They can make one or two very good moves but doing this consistently becomes suspicious. But I don't have knowldge on the current scandal.”

“I don't know if I am too naive or if I am too trusting,” says Anand. He feels that his first reaction was that Hans Nieman had played well in that infamous game after which his opponent Magnus Carlsen accused him of cheating. “A lot of stuf will have to be done by experts,” he says about the investigation that is underway into the issue. “With computers, you cannot catch anyone at the time of the act. I keep an open mind but there are commissions now investigating the matter, but there is going to be no proof – Anand on cheating during online chess”

It depends on the opponent. Some are expressive. Magnus Carlsen shows some emotion but many maintain a poker face regardless of what is happening.  

Classical games was far superior 50 years ago. You were considered a world champion when you won in that format. Blitz was played casually. It was unlucky for me I dominated rapid chess and some blitz. But at the time there was official rating for rapid. Now in the last 10 years there are dozens of records being tallied up, I lived in the pre-record era. As people caught familiar with it, rapid chess caught up with classic pretty fast. There is still a gap. You should have an open mind with formats, play whichever he audience is willing to watch. If you produce a good quality game, great. Main thing is to show your skills.

Anand admits that players today have far more than what he had in the early years of his career but he does miss those days. He feels he wouldn't change a thing because it is not like the current players have any real advantage as their competitors have the same facilities. 

"It was different from the current generation. The way they analysed the game – everything was very different. Learning from engines is great but I am curious to know how it would have been for me to play in Vishy sir’s generation"

"Anand sir was my role model and the reason I got into chess. I was super happy to be able to discuss chess with him regularly and the other coaches. Guys like Guyavsky were also there so I was just very excited. I can't really explain how much I have learnt from all the classes," Gukesh talking about joining Anand's VACA.

RBI governor: “Even at this points of time, our reserves are very comfortable. The first objective of our market intervention in Forex market is to ensure an orderly movement of exchange rate. Second is to anchor market expectations. If the RBI doesn't intervene, market takes it as rupee will just depreciate and RBI is indifferent and agnostic to it. That will fuel further depreciation.”

RBI governor: "Every innovation has to be well regulation when it is commmercialised or implemented as a financial intermediary."

Internal committee of RBI did a detailed analysis and found that 4% inflation target with a price band of +-2%. RBI research at that point of time found, and even now it holds good, that inflation for India would be detrimental to growth."
