Heavy rain causes flood-like situation in Rajasthan, schools closed in 2 districts

Heavy rainfall over the past three days has triggered a flood-like situation in four districts of Rajasthan as authorities sounded an alert and closed schools in many areas.

In Barmer, Jalore and Sirohi and Pali districts, people said many areas were marooned and lots of makeshift structures damaged due to thunderstorms and heavy rains. In the capital Jaipur, many areas were submerged even on Monday and local residents reported having to wade through knee-to waist-deep water.
Authorities have appealed to the people to shift to safe locations and officials said they are keeping a close watch on the situation. Jalore and Sirohi district administration have ordered of the closer of the school on Monday.
The district of Jalore is one of the worst affected, with 150% more rainfall against the average . On Sunday, Jalore block reported 205 mm rainfall .
Bhinmal block of Jalore had received 179 mm rainfall on Sunday and total recorded rainfall in this span is 403 mm. Barmer district has received 215.6 against the average 277 mm rainfall.
