Garbage collection agent nabbed in Gaziabad

Alarmed by instances of missing equipments from a highrise for the past fortnight, security officials of the SG Impression Plus highrise on Saturday laid down a trap and nabbed a solid waste collection vendor, who allegedly stole various equipment and used bags of solid waste to transport them out of the building. The suspect, identified as Mukhlis Hussain, was later handed over to the police and an FIR was registered at Sihani Gate police station.
The highrise is located in Raj Nagar Extension and has about 148 flats. It has a solid waste collection centre in the basement. A collection agency had been hired by the building management, which had been sending a collector to collect solid waste daily.
“We observed that some of the equipment had been going missing this past fortnight. An old water cooler, an exhaust fan, a wall-mounted fan, a pump, etc., also went missing. We got suspicious as the solid waste collector was the only one who had gone there,” Chandra Mohan Singh, the estate manager of the highrise, said.
