Four weapon licences of Manorama Devi, husband Bindi Yadav cancelled
JD(U) MLC Manorama Devi has been booked under the new Bihar Excise (Amendment) Act 2016, following recovery of liquor bottles from her house during a raid in search of her son Rocky Yadav, an accused in the killing of teenager Aditya Sachdeva in a road rage case.
A Gaya court on Wednesday ordered cancellation of licenses of four weapons issued to JD(U) lawmaker Manorama Devi.
The MLC has been booked under the new Bihar Excise (Amendment) Act 2016, following recovery of liquor bottles from her house during a raid in search of her son Rocky Yadav, an accused in the killing of teenager Aditya Sachdeva in a road rage case.
The district administration cancelled the arms licenses of Manorama Devi and her husband Bindeshwar Yadav alias Bindi Yadav, and issued a notice to them to deposit all the weapons at the police station within three days.
The court of additional district judge Sachidanand Singh also deferred hearing on the bail petition of Bindi Yadav in Sachdeva murder case, in which he is the co-accused.
Bindi Yadav, Rocky Yadav, his cousin Teni Yadav and a bodyguard are in jail since April 8.
Police officials also said the administration will attach the Anudgrah Puri Colony residence of the MLC and her husband under provisions of the excise act.
Quaisar Sarfuddin, Bindi Yadav’s lawyer pleaded for bail but the court fixed June 6 for hearing of the bail application.
Meanwhile, Manorama Devi moved the Patna high court for regular bail after the district court rejected her petition in the liquor recovery case in which she is the prime accused.
Gaya District Magistrate Kumar Ravi said the administration will take up property attachment procedure under the excise Act once the panchayat poll counting is over.
“It will take a fortnight to complete all the formalities, including hearing on the pleas of the accused persons”, he said.
However, despite directives of zonal Inspector General Nayyar Hasnain Khan to the Gaya police to submit the charge sheet in the teenager murder case within a month, it seems unlikely in the absence of the forensic laboratory test report, which has not been sent to the court so far.
“We have completed all investigations and are waiting for the forensic report to corroborate facts”, said Saurabh Kumar, deputy inspector deneral of police, Magadh Zone.
