DNPA Dialogues kicks off, antitrust, Big Tech monopoly on agenda | Watch LIVE
Rod Sims, former Australian antitrust stalwart, is the keynote speaker at India’s first-of-its-kind roundtable on emerging changes in Big Tech and Digital Media relationship.
The inaugural edition of the DNPA Dialogues is expected to see idea exchange on Big Tech’s antitrust practices and possible safeguard mechanisms for news publishers. Digital arms of traditional news industry in India and in many parts of the world have questioned the anti trust monopolistic practices of Big Tech . The DNPA Dialogues will provide a forum for Indian Publishers to learn and understand first hand from the experience of publishers in other country and how the Government and legislatures intervened to support the news industry.
The DNPA is a dynamic umbrella organisation for the digital wings of media businesses, having initiated proactive action in recent years to restore equality and fairness for all news publishers. The association represents 17 media publishers, including Hindustan Times.
The dialogue would see participation of thought leaders and knowledge seekers from wide spectrum of professions, communities, institutions and industry like lawyers and law schools, academia & media schools, technology players, policy makers & regulatory agencies, cream of Indian media leadership from DNPA members, Big 4 & other think tanks, journalists & writers, various industry & business chambers, media associations and bodies, advertisers among others.

Sims, former head of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), famously piloted the government’s mission to resolve revenue sharing disputes between Big Tech giants and the Australian news media.
