Sources in the Protocol department told HT that Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar will be sworn in as deputy chief ministers when BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis takes the oath as the state's chief minister.
The cabinet birth of elected MLAs will be decided later, as sources suggest there has been intense wrangling among Mahayuti allies to secure key portfolios.

Maharashtra CM elect Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday urged caretaker chief minister Eknath Shinde to join his new cabinet and administration. The BJP leader's request came after reports that Shinde was upset about being denied the top post after delivering a landslide victory for the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance.
“Yesterday I met Eknath Shinde and requested him that it is the wish of Mahayuti workers that he should be with us in this government. I have full faith that he will be with us. We will fulfill the promises made to the people of Maharashtra,” said Fadnavis.
