Delhi election results | Highlights: In a historic victory, the Bharatiya Janata Party has come to power in the national capital after 27 years, securing 48 out of 70 seats in the Delhi assembly elections, according to the Election Commission of India. BJP leader Parvesh Verma defeated AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal in a high-stakes battle. AAP leader and Delhi chief minister Atishi, however, managed to win the Kalkaji seat against BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri. She resigned from her position as chief minister on Sunday.
Lt Governor V K Saxena has also issued an order to dissolve the legislative assembly effective immediately. BJP's winning candidates Parvesh Verma and Kailash Gahlot also visited the Raj Niwas to meet the Lt Governor.
BJP supporters have been celebrating the result in the city, with prime minister Narendra Modi giving an address at the BJP headquarters to congratulate party workers.

Without taking Kejriwal's name he attributed the decline of that movement to Arvind Kejriwal and referred to him as "Duryodhan," a reference to the antagonist in the Mahabharata.

Delhi election final results LIVE: The BJP's success in the Delhi Assembly polls, where it won 48 seats on Saturday, was aided by various factors including its popular campaign songs two of which were rendered by party MP Manoj Tiwari.
The BJP profusely used four songs during its month-long campaign for the elections held on February 5, party leaders said.
The "Bahane Nahi Badlav Chahiye" (change not excuses needed) sung by Tiwari became campaign's most popular track conveying the message of engine change in Delhi that later on became an integral part of BJP's political attacks on Kejriwal led AAP's failures in the national capital, said party leader Neel Kant Bakshi.
Bakshi , creative director of all the four songs also including those voiced by Amit Dhull and former Azamgarh MP and Bhojpuri film star Dinesh Lal Yadav "Nirahua", said political messaging, catchy lyrics and rhythmic beats were crucial elements of these video songs. (PTI)

Delhi election final results LIVE: The BJP, which returned to power in Delhi after more than 26 years, managed to make inroads in constituencies dominated by various regional and socio-economic classes of voters, including Purvanchalis, Sikhs, Jats, and slum dwellers.
The party delivered an impressive performance in constituencies along the Haryana border, securing victories in nine out of the 11 seats.
The party also showcased a strong performance in constituencies like Laxmi Nagar, Sangam Vihar and Karawal Nagar, where there are over 15 per cent of Purvanchali voters, winning 25 out of 35 such seats.
In assembly constituencies like Najafgarh, Narela, and Bijwasan, which have five per cent Haryanvi voters, the BJP bagged 12 out of 13 such seats.
The party has also won four out of seven seats with slum dwellers in dominance.
Besides, out of 12 reserved seats, the BJP won four seats, including Mangolpuri.
