BJP’s Ramvir Singh Bidhuri has won the Badarpur assembly seat. In a closely-fought election, he defeated AAP’s Ram Singh Netaji by 3719 votes. The saffron party has wrested this seat from the AAP which won it in 2015.

With this, BJP has won eight seats in the Delhi assembly election. It is a distant second to the ruling AAP which looks set to win 62 seats.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal received his MLA Certificate from the Returning Officer of the New Delhi constituency. The AAP convener retained his assembly seat, defeating BJP’s Sunil Kumar Yadav by 21,697 votes. Kejriwal had won from the New Delhi seat by 31, 583 votes in 2015.

Kailash Gahlot retains Najafgarh, improves victory margin

Aam Aadmi Party candidate Kailash Gahlot has won from the Najafgarh constituency. The Delhi transport minister defeated Ajeet Singh Kharkhari of the BJP by 6,231 votes in one of the last few results to be declared in the Delhi assembly poll.

Gahlot has improved his victory margin this time, having won by just 1,555 votes in 2015.
