Missing Bihar boy kidnapped, taken to Nepal, declared dead; returns home alive after 70 days
The teen was presumed dead when officials found a mutilated body along the railway tracks near the Allapatti area on February 26.
After having been missing, presumed dead and even cremated for 70 days, a 17-year-old boy returned home alive in Bihar's Darbhanga, officials said on Friday.

The teen's family had filed a missing persons complaint with the Mabbi police on February 8, a news agency PTI report said. Days later, on February 26, police found a mutilated body on the railway tracks and believed that the boy had died after being hit by a train.
Officials had allegedly confirmed that the mortal remains were of the missing teen, following which they handed over his body to the family members.
The teenager's family also received a compensation of ₹4 lakh from the government.
"On February 26, a mutilated body (with severed hand and leg) was found in Allapatti area along the railway tracks. The body, which was beyond recognition, was handed over to family members after officials confirmed that it was the remains of the missing teen," police said.
Kidnapped, taken to Nepal
However, on Thursday, the boy suddenly appeared before the Darbhanga District Court and claimed that he had been abducted.
He told the court that when he was playing cricket in his locality, three or four unknown persons approached him and pressed a cloth over his mouth. After this the teen said he couldn't remember anything.
It was only later that he realised that he had been kidnapped to Nepal. But he successfully managed to break free from his abductors and return home.
The boy also told the court that he had made a video call to his brother to inform him that he was alive. Following this, his brother went to Nepal to bring him back home.
After returning, the boy decided to directly appear before the court instead of reporting the matter to police.
Darbhanga SDPO Amit Kumar told reporters that they are investigating the matter and trying to identify the person who was actually cremated.
"The teen, who has returned alive, will also be questioned by police, as it is being claimed that he was kidnapped by certain people," Kumar added.
