Watch: NDRF rescues 3-year-old child who fell into 40-feet borewell in Bihar's Nalanda

A three-year-old child fell into a 40-foot deep borewell in Bihar's Nalanda. NDRF and rescue teams are on the spot to save the child.

A three-year-old child who fell into a 40-foot deep borewell while playing in Kul village of Bihar's Nalanda on Sunday was rescued by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) after about five hours of operation, news agency ANI reported. The boy's health is said to be stable and is being rushed to a hospital for emergency medical attention.

"The child is fine and has been rescued. He has been sent to hospital. It took us around 5 hours to rescue him, Ranjeet Kumar, NDRF officer told the news agency.

"We received information that a child fell into a borewell. We are trying our best to rescue the child. NDRF and rescue team will be reaching the spot. The child is still alive, we can hear his voice," Silwa Circle Officer, Shambhu Mandal told ANI.

Shubham Kumar, 3, was playing near an open borewell being dug by a farmer for boring . But it didn't succeed, so the farmer started boring in another place and this borewell was not closed, Nalin Maurya, vice president of Nalanda nagar panchayat told the news agency.

JCB machines were deployed to supply the oxygen and rescue the child from the bore.

Dinesh Kumar Singh, police station in-charge said that the senior officer has been informed about the incident and many officials of Parsottam reached the spot.

Recently, a two-and-a-half-year-old girl, who fell into a 20-foot-deep borewell in Kajari Barkheda village in Madhya Pradesh's Vidisha was declared dead by doctors after being rescued, while in a similar incident, a two-and-a-half-year-old toddler lost her life after falling into a 300-feet-deep borewell in Madhya Pradesh's Sehore district in June.
