Coronavirus outbreak: Indian Army defers all Services Selection Board interviews
Military aspirants have to appear for SSB interviews that are spread over four days and held at different centres across the country such as Allahabad, Bhopal and Bengaluru. The first such interviews were supposed to begin later this week.
The Indian Army has deferred all Services Selection Board interviews that aspirants are required to clear before joining the armed forces as officers, said two government officials on conditions of anonymity, on Wednesday. They said that the decision has been taken in view of the rising cases of coronavirus infections in the country.
Military aspirants have to appear for SSB interviews that are spread over four days and held at different centres across the country such as Allahabad, Bhopal and Bengaluru. The first such interviews were supposed to begin later this week.
“These interviews can’t be conducted in the current circumstances. The candidates will be notified when the interviews will be held. No date has been fixed yet,” said one of the officers. The Navy and the Indian Air Force are also likely to defer SSB interviews, the second official said.
The army had on Tuesday postponed several of its courses for its officers to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus. These courses were to begin in different parts of the country next week.
Non-essential training, conferences and movement have also been deferred.
