Industry owners in IMT Manesar are to get their first post office in the township nearly 25 years after one was opened inside the NSG campus—with a lot of restrictions on the entry and exit for non-defence people. Industry owners in IMT Manesar are to get their first post office in the township nearly 25 years after one was opened inside the NSG campus—with a lot of restrictions on the entry and exit for non-defence people.

Industry owners said that a post office within the IMT Manesar township was a dire requirement as workers and executives were forced to visit the NSG compound or the city of Gurugram on a daily basis for personal and official purposes.

“For 25 years, we were told, there was no government space for the post office, and private space would have changed very high rent. Finally, the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) has agreed to provide space to the postal department, an agreement has been signed,” Aseem Takyar, an industry owner who pursed the post office matter with the HSIIDC and the Indian Postal department consistently for years, said.

The HSIIDC has signed a lease agreement with the Indian Postal department for space at its office premises. Vijay Godara, estate officer, HSIIDC Manesar, said, “The lease agreement has been signed and, soon, a post office will be opened here.”

“We will set up an office in couple of days as space has been provide and we are giving a final touch to the plan,” an official familiar with the matter said.

“This is a big relief as many of our workers used to take leave on working days to send letters or parcels or transfer money home. The post office demand was long due and now is set to become a reality in a day or two,” Manmohan Gaind, another industry owner, said.

On the demand of industry owners, the Indian Postal department in 2017 had deployed a staff member at Kasan village—500 metres from the Manesar HSIIDC office, to collect letters and orders and issue receipts the next day.

“He was an employee of the NSG post office—since people used to face lot of restrictions entering NSG compound, we requested the Indian Postal department to arrange a staff member in the nearby area who could help us out. We also had been requesting the HSIIDC to provide space to the Indian Postal department to open a branch in Sector 8—it is going to be a reality,” Manoj Tyagi, another industry owner, said.
