Josh Brolin was promoting Deadpool 2 on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and couldn’t resist trying out funny alternate voices for Thanos, his villainous character from Avengers: Infinity War.

In an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon where Josh Brolin was promoting his new film, Deadpool 2, he took the time out to discuss another recent triumph, his villainous turn in the record-breaking Avengers: Infinity War.

In the video, Fallon asks Brolin if he tried out different voices for Thanos, to which Brolin replied that there really aren’t too many options for characters such as this. He then went into the deep, guttural voice that we heard in the movie, and said, “Destiny will arrive...” which sent the audience into raptures. Fallon and Brolin then fooled around with different voices, including a high pitched one Valley Girl accent, another that was clearly effeminate, and ended with a New York gangster character straight out of a Martin Scorsese movie.

Brolin played Thanos, the Mad Titan, in the Marvel movie - an eight-foot purple behemoth who snapped his fingers and ‘killed’ half the universe’s population at the end of the film. His character’s presence was felt throughout the film, with the directors - the Russo Brothers - even suggesting that they’d designed the story from his perspective.

Brolin played Thanos through motion capture, the same technique they use for Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk. This includes the actors being outfitted in spandex suits with strategically placed sensors on their bodies to capture their movements and expressions. This data is then transferred to a digital replica.

Brolin will reprise his role in Avengers 4, scheduled for release in one year. The film will focus on the remaining Avengers’ last stand against Thanos, their most formidable villain yet. It will also mark the end of the franchise as we know it, with new characters reportedly taking on the mantle of Iron Man, Captain America and others.

Meanwhile, Infinity War recently became the highest grossing superhero movie of all time, and the highest grossing summer release ever. The film has collected over $1.6 billion worldwide, including over Rs 250 crore in India.
