Josh Brolin reveals the only reason he agreed to do Avengers Infinity War
Josh Brolin watched Benedict Cumberbatch play Smaug in a YouTube video and was convinced that playing Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War was the right choice.
Josh Brolin has said that Benedict Cumberbatch is the only reason that he agreed to do Avengers: Infinity War. In the movie, Brolin plays the antagonist Thanos; Cumberbatch plays Doctor Strange.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Brolin said that Cumberbatch inspired him to take the role in the Marvel movie. While researching for his role, Brolin happened to come across a YouTube video, which showed Benedict Cumberbatch doing a motion capture performance for the dragon Smaug in The Hobbit movies.
“He was in this (motion capture suit), and he’s crawling around like a snake, snapping his tongue out doing this incredible performance,” Entertainment Weekly quoted Brolin as saying.
“I saw that and was like, all right, that’s the bar. This is not like bulls**t. This is something you have to sink your teeth into with conviction, embarrassment, and all this kind of stuff.” he added.
Avengers: Infinity War was released on April 27 and recently crossed the $2 billion mark at the worldwide box office. Both Cumberbatch and Brolin will return in Avengers 4, due out in May, 2019.
