Tent house owner booked for death of 36-year-old man
According to the police, Rajesh Mandal, the deceased, was setting up a tent for a night-long Jagran (a religious musical gathering). The incident took place on Saturday around 10.30 am.
A few hours after a 36-year-old labourer died when a tent collapsed on him in Block Q of Sector 40, the police on Saturday night booked the owner of the tent house.

The police said that the owner is yet to be arrested.
According to the police, Rajesh Mandal, the deceased, was setting up a tent for a night-long Jagran (a religious musical gathering). The incident took place on Saturday around 10.30am.
“Rajesh and I were working together inside the tent. We had told the owner of the tent house that the structure was fragile and might fall. But he did not concede and told us to continue working. On Saturday, the tent came down and Rajesh was crushed under the weight of the steel pipes,” Shatrughan Mandal, the victim’s brother-in-law, said in the first information report (FIR).
According to the police, the residents first tried to remove the tent themselves. However, despite several attempts, they failed to do so.
Finally, the residents of the area informed the police control room, following which a team from the Sector 40 police station went to the spot and called a crane to remove the tent.The police said that the tent was so heavy that it took around half an hour to rescue the victim. Rajesh was rushed to a hospital in the city where a team doctors declared him dead on arrival, the police said.
The police said that the owner fled from the spot when the incident took place.
Naresh Yadav, assistant sub-inspector (ASI), Sector 40 police station said, “Preliminary probe has revealed that the suspect has a business of tent houses. He is yet to be arrested. The police are investigating the case.”
A case was registered against the suspect under Section 304 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code at the Sector 40 police station on Saturday, the police said.
