The sky remained cloudy with no sign of sun on Monday as predicted by the India Meteorological department (IMD). It was also forecasted that the region will receive rainfall during the weekend.

The maximum temperature was recorded at 34 degrees Celsius on Monday. It fell two notches from the 36 degrees Celsius that was recorded on Sunday. Light rain in nearby areas resulted in the fall in temperature.

The pleasant mornings have come as a relief for city residents after a long summer spell that continued through most of May and June.

Residents can have a good night’s sleep now that the heat wave has subsided this month. Thunderstorm and lightning are also forecast for the region.

According to the India Meteorological Department, the region will witness thunderstorm or a dust storm this week, however, heavy showers will be witnessed in the region during the later part of the month.

“Both minimum and maximum temperatures in the region have been recorded below normal. The sudden rainfall has brought the temperature down,” said an IMD official.

The cyclonic circulation persists over Rajasthan and the adjoining areas of Haryana. Because of this, heavy rainfall is likely over Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

Also, cyclonic movements were seen around Bay of Bengal, which will result in heavy showers, explained the weather department.
