Amid increasing complaints, the transport secretary has decided to discuss the matter with the officials of Link Utsav Registration Plates Limited on Sunday following which the matter will be presented to the transport commissioner.

“There are complaints of bungling in rates, delayed delivery and incapable staff,” said Dalbir Singh, secretary, RTA.

He added that delayed services for commercial vehicles is reflected in terms of direct losses to companies who buy the vehicles on loan and need to start their work within the stipulated time.

Besides, there have also been complaints that the agency has not been paying fine for the delayed service. The fine, to be paid by the agency if the number plates are not issued within four days, amounts to Rs 75 for one day and Rs 50 for every subsequent day.

The company, on the other hand, claims that the number plates are ready but people do not turn up to collect them, resulting in piling up of the number plates. “We have maximum number of staff in Gurgaon compared to any other place in Haryana. We are unable to prepare number plates on time only in 2-3% of the cases,” said Arvind Sharda, deputy general manager of Link Utsav Registration Plates.

Sharda added that the RTA and SDM officials are not allowing them to deliver services properly as they register vehicles through agents.

“These are high security number plates and cannot be fixed if touts come for it. We need the owner to come with the vehicle documents,” said Sharda. The high security registeration plates (HSRP) scheme was launched in July 2012.
