Five cattle smugglers open fire at cops in Haryana’s Punahana, one constable injured
A police constable from Nuh was injured in alleged crossfire on late Monday night after five members of a gang, accused in several cases of ATM theft, robbery, cattle smuggling and carjacking, shot at some policemen stationed at a check post in Punahana area, said the police.

The constable is undergoing treatment at a hospital in the city.
The crime investigation agency (CIA), Tauru, had information that the five gangsters would visit Punhana in an SUV on Monday from Mewat to smuggle cattle. The incident took place when the men in the SUV did not stop at the police check post set up near Khedla village near the Rajasthan border in Punhana area.
When the police tried to stop the SUV, the accused allegedly opened fire at them and also rammed into the police control room van. The police in defence fired back at the gang members, who managed to flee from the spot. Some police personnel also sustained minor injuries and one suffered bullet injuries, officials said.
The accused have been booked under sections 147 (punishment for rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon) 332 (voluntarily causes hurt), 333 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt to deter public servant from his duty),307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC and the Arms Act at the Punhana police station.
“The three members were identified by the police and they were involved in cattle smuggling in Nuh,” said Sangeeta Kalia, SP, Nuh.
