A man filed a police complaint alleging that a city-based travel agency cheated him of ₹12.4 lakh on the pretext of booking air tickets for his travel to USA. The police said a probe has been initiated.

According to the police, the complainant, who lives in the US and was visiting his family, had contacted a travel agency on Sohna Road to book his tickets and to purchase a forex card.
“My wife, a family friend and I had gone to the agency to pick up the tickets. The agency told us to come to their premises the following day. I went there and transferred ₹12.4 lakh to the savings account mentioned. But, they kept delaying booking my tickets. The forex card did not have any balance. They refused to return the money later,” the man wrote in the complaint.
The man added that the police must recover his money at the earliest as he was scheduled to return to the United States on May 20.
Satinder Singh, assistant sub inspector, Sadar police station, said the case was being investigated and the suspects were yet to be arrested.
A case was registered against the suspects under sections 406 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code at Sadar police station on Saturday.
