HT Most Stylish awards: When Kailash Kher’s Teri Deewani set the evening’s tone
Bollywood singer Kailash Kher enthralled the audience at HT’s Most Stylish Awards in Mumbai on Friday. He opened his performance with his 2006 sufi hit Teri Deewani.
The first performance of the evening at the sixth edition of Hindustan Times Mumbai’s Most Stylish Awards opened with a thunderous applause . The hall was packed with celebrities such as singer Alka Yagnik, model-actor Esha Gupta, Praachi Desai and Saiyami Kher, TV actor Siddharth Shukla, restaurateur AD Singh, actor Jackie Shroff, actor Elli Avram, and film-maker Ramesh Sippy, just to name a few.
Sufi Bollywood singer Kailash Kher opened the show with his 2006 sufi hit Teri Deewani, and opened the stage for the audience to join at the crescendo. Actor Manish Paul was seen singing the song from the audience with a grin on his face.

Kher upped the energy with his next number, Tauba Tauba again from his 2006 album Kailasa. Kher, an interactive performer, incorporated names of celebrities in attendance, in the song. For instance, he incorporated Yagnik’s name in the lyrics and sang “Tauba tauba wey, Alkaji ki surat [my my, Alka ji’s beauty].”
Kher closed the performance with an acoustic rendition of his popular romantic track Saiyaan. Kher even danced to the number on-stage – the signature sufi whirling to acoustic guitar. And to the enthralled audience, he said, “the most stylish person is the one wearing a smile. So, be happy and all the best,” he said before signing off.

The awards began soon after. Actor Aparshakti Khurana walked on stage to present the most stylish theatre personality.The winner Manav Kaul, walked on to the stage and said, “This is my first award in Mumbai. So, it’s definitely an honour, but more so, because it’s related to theatre.”

Next up were the awards for most stylish singer. Shaan won the Most Stylish Male Singer. After accepting his award, Shaan adlibbed Dilber Mere from Satte pe Satta (1982). He dedicated the song to his wife, Radhika Mukherjee, who was in the audience.
