Over 110 nations to join COP28 deal to triple renewable energy
More than 110 countries are expected to support a pledge to triple the world's installed renewable energy capacity by 2030 at the COP28 climate summit. The European Union, United States, and United Arab Emirates, the host of COP28, have been rallying support for the pledge as a means to reduce planet-warming emissions. However, it is unclear whether the huge investments needed to achieve the goal will materialize. The pledge would also require consensus among the nearly 200 countries present at the summit.
