Iranian conservationists advocating for cheetahs released from jail

Iran has freed two conservationists, Niloufar Bayani and Houman Jowkar, who were imprisoned for espionage charges while working to save Asiatic cheetahs. They were among over 2,000 prisoners granted amnesty for Eid al-Fitr. The UN Environment Program welcomed their release, along with their colleagues, who were also on the amnesty list. The activists were part of the nonprofit Persian Wildlife Heritage Foundation.
