Cause and Effect | ‘Scientist’s job isn’t to negotiate, but to give evidence to govts’: Aditi Mukherji, IWMI
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has begun work on its seventh assessment report (AR7), which is expected to be completed in 5-7 years. The IPCC, established in 1988, is responsible for providing the most detailed, evidence-based information on climate change. The compilation process involves selecting authors based on expertise and diversity, and each report takes 2-3 years to complete. The final numbers in the reports are not typically outdated, but minor updates can be included as footnotes. There is a need for more data and perspectives from the Global South, particularly African countries, in future reports.
