Canada’s wildfires have burnt an area 16 times larger than normal
Wildfires in Canada have caused smoke to blanket the east coast of the United States, leading to poor air quality. The wildfires in Canada have burned a total area of 5.4 million hectares, making it the worst year for wildfire damage since 1995. The hot and dry weather conditions have contributed to the spread of the fires, with each fire growing larger than usual. While there have been evacuations, no deaths have been reported at this time. President Joe Biden has sent 600 firefighters to help combat the fires in Canada.
