Raju Srivastava's nephew denies comedian has gained consciousness, daughter urges not to trust 'unreliable' sources
Raju Srivastava is improving but doctors are not planning to take him off life support anytime soon, his nephew has said as he denied reports that the comedian had gained consciousness. His daughter has also confirmed that Raju is stable.
Raju Srivastava's nephew Kushal Srivastava has denied all reports claiming the comedian has gained consciousness. Raju has been hospitalised for two weeks now, ever since he suffered a cardiac arrest during a workout session in his gym on August 10. (Also read: Raju Srivastava gains consciousness after 15 days)
Raju's daughter Antara Srivastava also shared a message from his official Instagram handle. It read as, "Dear all well-wishers, My dad Mr. Raju Srivastava Ji's condition is stable and he continues to recover slowly. Hc is on thc ventilator at the moment. Only statements from AI IMS Delhi and Raju Ji's official social media accounts are trustworthy and genuine. Any other news or statements from anyone else is unreliable. The doctors and their entire team at AIIMS Delhi are working hard and diligently. We're thankful to them and all his well-wishers. Request you all to continue your love and prayers for his speedy recovery."
Raju's personal secretary Garvit Narang had said Thursday morning that Raju gained consciousness and is being monitored by doctors at AIIMS Delhi.
Kushal told ETimes, “Raju ji's health is improving but the reports of him gaining consciousness are untrue. He has opened his eyes a couple of times and also moved his hands, but that is not enough for us, we want him to recover completely. His health is gradually getting better and the doctors are also saying that recovery will take time.”
He added, "He is still on a ventilator and doctors want him to take him out of it, but there are no such immediate plans. They are waiting for his health to improve more. The progress is not enough for the doctors to remove the life support. His organs are responding well to the treatment."
Another family member, Raju's nephew Mayank Srivastava also told TV9 that the comedian had not gained consciousness, adding that Garvit only takes care of Raju's publicity when he is in Kanpur. “We are in the hospital, you must listen to the family. Garvit only takes care of Raju's work when he is in Kanpur.”
In his statement to ANI, Garvit had said, "Raju Srivastava gained consciousness today after 15 days. He is being monitored by doctors at AIIMS Delhi, Raju's health condition is improving."
Raju has been working in the industry for five decades now. He first became a household name in 2005 when he he participated in the first season of stand-up comedy show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. He has since worked in many comedy shows. He has also worked with many renowned Bollywood stars in their films. The stand-up comedian turned politician and actor is very popular for his stage character Gajodhar Bhaiya.
