Leo movie review and release highlights: Vijay's film likely to gross ₹145 crore worldwide on day one

Actor Trisha visited a Chennai theatre with her mother, Aditi Ravindranath, friends and family members to watch Leo. She also waved and greeted her fans.

Leo is expected to perform well on its first day at the box office. As per Sacnilk.com, the first-day box office collection is likely to be ₹68 crore nett in India for all languages, as per early estimates. The gross collection of the film in India is expected to be ₹80 crore. The overseas collection is likely to be ₹65 crore and the worldwide gross is likely to be ₹145 crore.

The Hindustan Times review of the film read, “Despite the reasons for Leo’s transformation, the film is not a meditation on the consequences of choosing violence or abandoning it. “I wish the film a huge success. I pray to God the film should become a huge success,” Rajinikanth has said earlier this week about Leo.

“Cafe fight in #Leo. Easily, the most tense action sequence ever in a #ThalapathyVijay film. The way it’s built to the explosive action point is just amazing. And Vijay holds that scene more convincingly than you can even imagine,” wrote film critic Haricharan Pudipedi.

A bunch of fans had been protesting for a few hours at a screening of Leo in Priya Theater in Manamadurai, Sivagangai district on Thursday when the film was played without the right audio. Not knowing what to do with this, the theater administrators replaced Leo with a print of 2014 movie Jilla!

A Twitter review for Leo read, “A feast for Vijay fans 🔥 enjoyed the LCU link, title card is best in recent times, only slight draw back is few parts of second half and emotional connection, this is truly the Ani Era and Anbariv scores highly through the film - A total worth.- 3 out of 5 for Leo.”

People on Twitter are share videos of empty theatres in US for Leo. However, we could not independently verify the clips. A person wrote, “#Leo premiere. 1 min to the show and record breaking audience in US. But still it collected $1.4 million. #LeoDisaster.”

Film critic Haricharan Pudipeddi tweeted that it was ‘always cute to see #ThalapathyVijay mouthing dialogues in Hindi’.

Film trade analyst Ramesh Bala tweeted that Leo is off to a great start in Karnataka. He retweeted a post that read, “#Leo relaasing along with Industry Topnotchs. A Dare step ahead @SwagathOffl. #Leo promising BLOCK BUSTER. Thanks to Media and Fans who have made great and received close to heart.”

As per film trade analyst Manobala Vijaybalan, Leo has been leaked online in high quality print!

Leo stars Trisha Krishnan opposite Vijay. A few days ago, she shared a bunch of BTS pictures and still from the movie.

The high court refused to allow 4am or 7am shows in Tamil Nadu for Leo. The earliest shows began at 9am. State’s law minister S Regupathy also spoke on the matter to clarify that there is no political interference to restrict the number of shows. Read full story here.

Sharing a clip featuring an ad of Telugu actor Mahesh Babu from inside a theatre, a person tweeted, “Unexpected. Mahesh Babu's cameo in Leo first 20 seconds mass…” Many dropped laughing emojis in reaction to it.
