I’m against misogyny: Vishal Dadlani

Singer and composer Vishal Dadlani, who stopped a child from singing rapper Honey Singh’s song in a reality show, says that he still stands by his statement. “I still stand by it. I don’t think kids should sing such songs. Don’t get me wrong, I have composed Sheila Ki Jawani (Tees Maar Khan), and I don’t have a problem with sensuality. I have a problem with misogyny,” he said.

About the difference between composing music for Bollywood and for his band Pentagram, Vishal, who is currently judging reality show, Indian Idol Junior, said, “Pentagram is who I am... it’s a reflection of me. While in Bollywood, I compose music as per the script and what the director demands.”

He added, “A lot of people have asked us if Pentagram can compose music for their films, but we always say no, because we cannot react to a script.”

The 40-year-old feels that the parallel music industry is growing really fast. “There was a time when you could only play covers of famous bands/artists. Today the audience wants original music, which is great. Also, there are yearly music festivals happening in the country which are growing in popularity with each year,” Vishal said.
