Actor is known for raising her voice against the sterotypes associated with women. The actor recently got much appreciation for writing and performing a monologue that voiced women’s concerns. While she admits the praise has been flattering, she is not much moved by it.

“Social media is a phase, it does not matter much. You know because people are talking about it, and you talk about it too. I’d rather talk to someone in person or on phone, so that we both know where we are coming from,” she says. Talking about the monologue, the 30-year-old says, “It’s a collection of my thoughts, poems, that I had written and kept with myself over the years. It took me about two weeks to compile it all in the way you read it.”

In a fairly long but simple monologue, Kalki uses examples from history to point out how women have been abused and blamed over the years. “It (abuse) has been there for a long time. For people to understand the sensitivity, they must first know their history,” she says.

In the monologue, she writes, “Who wants five husbands, God knows I’ve trouble with one.” Asked if that’s meant to be a comment on her Kalki says, “It’s a joke. It’s a long monologue, and I have to keep the audience glued in and one way to that is to involve humour. It’s nothing serious, really.”
