No, Tara Sutaria not roped in for Aashiqui 3, director Anurag Basu clarifies| EXCLUSIVE

Actors Kartik Aaryan and Tara Sutaria’s recent public spotting left everyone puzzled about the reason. Are they dating? Are they doing a film? Is it Aashiqui 3?

The last one has been a hotly discussed topic for months now. Helmed by Anurag Basu, it will be the third instalment in the popular romantic franchise. However, HT City brings you a clarification, straight from the horse’s mouth.

We reach out to Basu for a comment, and he says, “No, the female lead of the film has not been finalised yet. Everything out there is a speculation.” When we mention Tara specifically and ask if she has been indeed chosen, he says, “No. No one has been finalised.”

The first and second instalment in the Aashiqui franchise were big hits. The first one (released in 1990) starred Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal, and the two shot to overnight fame. Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur came together for Aashiqui 2, and it was one of the biggest hits of 2013. Multiple rumours, ranging from Sutaria’s involvement in the third part, to the makers looking for a fresh face have been doing the rounds however the announcement is yet to happen.
