Aamir Khan reunites with Paul Blackthorne and Rachel Shelley for Lagaan Reunion, AR Rahman shares pic
Music director AR Rahman shared a glimpse of Lagaan's reunion. The picture featured Aamir Khan, Paul Blackthorne, Rachel Shelley and filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker, among others.
Aamir Khan reunited with Paul Blackthorne, Rachel Shelley and a few other members from Lagaan via video call to celebrate the film's 20th anniversary. AR Rahman took to social media and shared a picture from the special reunion.
The picture featured Aamir Khan, Paul Blackthorne, Rachel Shelley, filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker, actors Suhasini Mulay, Pradeep Rawat, Yashpal Sharma and Akhilendra Mishra and AR Rahman. Lagaan's female lead Gracy Singh was absent at the gathering.
Rahman shared the reunion picture on Instagram and with the caption, "#20YearsOfLagaan an emotional and proud team!"
Although Rahman did not reveal details of the chat, fans might witness their interaction on YouTube soon. Streaming platform Netflix recently announced that they will be streaming a Lagaan reunion special called Chale Chalo Lagaan - Once Upon an Impossible Dream on their Indian YouTube channel.
Earlier in the day, Aamir had also revealed that he was going to be participating in a special digital reunion of Lagaan. The actor's team shared a special video, in which Aamir thanked the team of the film. He said that the film brought him happiness, memories, and relationships which he cherishes. He also expressed his gratitude towards those who enjoyed and loved the movie.

The cricket-themed movie released on June 15, 2001. In the movie, Aamir essayed the role of Bhuvan, a villager who requested the Britishers to forgo a year's tribute owing to the drought in the village. Paul essayed the role of the vicious Captain Russell, who had challenged him for a match of cricket. Rachel played Captain Russell's sister Elizabeth, who helped Bhuvan learn the game and in the process falls head over heels for him.
The movie received critical and commercial success, even bagging a nomination at the Academy Awards in 2002. Lagaan was nominated under the Best Foreign Language Film category. The movie also won eight National Film Awards.
