      EC transfers more police officers amid 7th phase of West Bengal assembly polls

      Shantanu Sinha Biswas, an inspector at the Directorate of Economic Offences, was transferred to the office of the DIG Jalpaiguri Range as a crime inspector amid the West Bengal assembly elections.

      17.95% voter turnout recorded till 9:35am in 7th phase of West Bengal elections

      A total of 268 candidates, including 37 women, are in the fray in the seventh and penultimate phase of the West Bengal elections. The Murshidabad district has reported the highest turnout so far with 19.53%, while Kolkata South reported the lowest so far with 13.07%.

      West Bengal: Post-poll clashes kill 1; 7th phase polling under way

      Crude bombs were also recovered from a few places, including port area of Kolkata and Murshidabad, where polling is going on since morning. Police also recovered a few bombs from Amdanga in North 24 Parganas where voting was held on Saturday

      34 key seats in Bengal to vote in 7th phase today

      Polling will be held on six seats each in South Dinajpur and Malda, nine in Murshidabad, nine in West Burdwan and four in Kolkata.

      Bengal govt not handing over crime records to central agencies: BJP chief Nadda

      "Maati was not worried for, either. Bengal has fallen behind on several parameters. Manush has fallen to such lows that Mamata Ji had stopped giving crime records to the Central agencies. She did not want the world to know how she had treated the people of Bengal," Nadda said.

      TMC lodges complaint against BJP after crowd swells at actor’s rally

      The poll panel on Thursday had banned cycle or motorbike rallies, padyatras and limited public events to 500 people for the remaining two phases of the West Bengal elections, saying political parties had flouted Covid-19 norms despite an alarming spike in infections.
