In Karnataka Assembly Election 2018, there were 2,20,574 registered voters for Vijayanagara assembly seat, out of which 1,09,157 were male and 1,11,370 were female voters. 0.8% of voters opted for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In the Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election 2018, Vijayanagara constituency had 11 candidates for assembly seat contention. Vijayanagara was one of 80 seats won by the Indian National Congress. It was a close contest with Indian National Congress's Anand Singh winning the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's H.R.Gaviyappa by a margin of just 8,228 votes.
The top two candidates split 96.2% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Anand Singh got a total of 83,214 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's H.R.Gaviyappa secured 74,986 votes. Janata Dal (Secular)'s candidate Deepak Singh secured 3,835 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 50.6%, 45.6% and 2.3% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Bharatiya Janata Party's Anand Singh beat Indian National Congress's H.Abdul Wahab by 30,637 votes.
