Indian National Congress's Sharanabasappa Gouda Darshanapur got a total of 78,642 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Guru Patil Sirwal secured 47,668 votes. Janata Dal (Secular)'s candidate Ameenraddi Yalagi grabbed the third spot with 23,329 votes. The top three parties got 50.7%, 30.8% and 15.1% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Karnataka Jantha Paksha's Guru Patil Shiraval beat Indian National Congress's Sharanabasappagouda Darshanpur by 5,796 votes.
