Total 80 seats were won by the Indian National Congress, Sarvagnanagar was one of them. The election for Sarvagnanagar seat was comfortably won by Indian National Congress's K.J George defeating Bharatiya Janata Party's M.N.Reddy by a huge margin of 53,304 votes.
The top two candidates split 94.8% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's K.J George got a total of 1,09,955 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's M.N.Reddy secured 56,651 votes. Janata Dal (Secular)'s candidate Anwar Sharieff secured 4,926 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 62.6%, 32.2% and 2.8% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Indian National Congress's Kelachandra Joseph George beat Bharatiya Janata Party's Padmanabha Reddy by 22,854 votes.
