Puttur is one of the 224 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Dakshina Kannada district. Karnataka Assembly Election 2023 for Puttur will be held on May 10 and the result was declared on May 13.
Puttur assembly constituency had 1,97,923 electors in 2018, out of which 98,928 were male voters and 98,994 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.6% votes.

Bharatiya Janata Party's Sanjeeva Matandoor won the election upstaging Indian National Congress's Shakunthala.T. Shetty by a margin of 19,477 votes.
The top two candidates split 97.3% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Sanjeeva Matandoor got a total of 90,073 votes, while Indian National Congress's Shakunthala.T. Shetty secured 70,596 votes. Janata Dal (Secular)'s candidate I. C. Kailas Gowda secured 1,424 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 54.6%, 42.8% and 0.9% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Indian National Congress's Shakuntala T Shetty defeated Bharatiya Janata Party's Sanjeeva Matandoor by 4,289 votes.
