Mudigere is the assembly constituency which comes under the Chikmagalur district. It is one of the 224 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Constituencies. Karnataka Assembly Election 2023 for Mudigere will be held on May 10 and the result was declared on May 13.
In 2018, the Mudigere assembly seat had 1,66,888 registered voters, 82,615 were male and 84,262 were female voters. 0.8% of voters opted for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In the 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election, there were 10 candidates in the fray from Mudigere constituency. Mudigere was one of 104 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's M.P.Kumaraswamy won the election upstaging Indian National Congress's Motamma by a margin of 12,512 votes.
The top three candidates split 97.8% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's M.P.Kumaraswamy got a total of 58,783 votes, while Indian National Congress's Motamma secured 46,271 votes. Janata Dal (Secular)'s candidate B.B.Ningaiah grabbed the third spot with 22,063 votes. The top three parties got 45.2%, 35.6% and 17.0% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Janata Dal (Secular)'s B.B. Ningaiah defeated Indian National Congress's B.N. Chandrappa by 635 votes.
