Janata Dal (Secular)'s M.V. Veerabhadraiah won the election upstaging Indian National Congress's Kyathasandra N.Rajanna by a margin of 18,574 votes.

Veerabhadraiah got a total of 88,521 votes, while Indian National Congress's Kyathasandra N.Rajanna secured 69,947 votes. Bharatiya Janata Party's candidate Ramesh Reddy S.E. secured 2,911 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 53.4%, 42.2% and 1.8% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Indian National Congress's Kyatasandra N.Rajanna defeated Janata Dal (Secular)'s M.V.Veerabhadraiah by 14,427 votes.
