In the Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election 2018, Koratagere constituency had 11 candidates for assembly seat contention. Koratagere was one of 80 seats won by the Indian National Congress. It was a close contest with Indian National Congress's Dr. G. Parameshwara winning the election upstaging Janata Dal (Secular)'s P.R. Sudhakar Lal by a margin of just 7,619 votes.
The top two candidates split 91.5% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Dr. G. Parameshwara got a total of 81,598 votes, while Janata Dal (Secular)'s P.R. Sudhakar Lal secured 73,979 votes. Bharatiya Janata Party's candidate Y.H. Huchhaiah secured 12,190 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 48.0%, 43.5% and 7.2% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Janata Dal (Secular)'s Sudhakara Lal .P.R defeated Indian National Congress's Dr. G.Parameshwara by 18,155 votes.
