Jayanagar comes under the Bangalore district and it is one of the 224 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Constituencies. People of Jayanagar voted for Karnataka Assembly Election 2023 on May 10 and the result was declared on May 13.
Jayanagar assembly constituency had 1,95,401 electors in 2018, out of which 98,886 were male voters and 96,500 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.4% votes.
In the Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election 2018, Jayanagar constituency had 19 candidates for assembly seat contention. Jayanagar was one of 80 seats won by the Indian National Congress. It was a close contest with Indian National Congress's Sowmya Reddy winning the election upstaging Indian National Congress's Bn Prahlad by a margin of just 2,887 votes.
The top two candidates split 95.7% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Sowmya Reddy got a total of 54,458 votes, while Indian National Congress's Bn Prahlad secured 51,571 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate Ravi Krishna Reddy secured 1,861 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 49.2%, 46.6% and 1.7% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Bharatiya Janata Party's B.N. Vijayakumar defeated Indian National Congress's M.C.Venugopal by 12,312 votes.
