Hunasuru comes under the Mysore district and it is one of the 224 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Constituencies. People of Hunasuru voted for Karnataka Assembly Election 2023 on May 10 and the result was declared on May 13.
Hunasuru assembly constituency had 2,21,300 electors in 2018, out of which 1,11,634 were male voters and 1,09,665 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.7% votes.
In the Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election 2018, Hunasuru constituency had 15 candidates for assembly seat contention. Hunasuru was one of 37 seats won by the Janata Dal (Secular). It was a close contest with Janata Dal (Secular)'s Adaguru H Vishwanath winning the election upstaging Indian National Congress's H P Manjunath by a margin of just 8,575 votes.
The top two candidates split 94.6% of votes between them. Janata Dal (Secular)'s Adaguru H Vishwanath got a total of 91,667 votes, while Indian National Congress's H P Manjunath secured 83,092 votes. Bharatiya Janata Party's candidate J S Ramesh Kumar secured 6,406 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 49.6%, 45.0% and 3.5% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Indian National Congress's H.P.Manjunath outperformed Janata Dal (Secular)'s Kumaraswamy by 40,207 votes.
