Govindraj Nagar is one of the 224 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Bangalore district. People of Govindraj Nagar voted for Karnataka Assembly Election 2023 on May 10 and the result was declared on May 13.
Govindraj Nagar assembly constituency had 2,88,248 electors in 2018, out of which 1,50,961 were male voters and 1,37,233 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.6% votes.
In the 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election, there were 15 candidates in the fray from Govindraj Nagar constituency. Govindraj Nagar was one of 104 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's V Somanna won the election upstaging Indian National Congress's Priyakrishna by a margin of 11,375 votes.
The top two candidates split 94.4% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's V Somanna got a total of 79,135 votes, while Indian National Congress's Priyakrishna secured 67,760 votes. Janata Dal (Secular)'s candidate A Nagendra Prasad secured 7,090 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 50.8%, 43.5% and 4.6% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Indian National Congress's Priyakrishna beat Bharatiya Janata Party's H. Ravindra by 42,460 votes.
